:: ZION 2005 ::
Nanyang's first ever 5 day Orientation in its 27 years of history...or perhaps more. 27th Student Council's first ever superb major adhoc. The last ever Orientation for the first three months. & definitely the most happening orientation NYJC had ever had ! Serious.

The Dragon Years are one hella lucky batch...they've got a really nice O-Pack, superb nice buildings & the first and probably, the last 5 day Orientation! :)
ZION was good. It was really good. & damn, I really am missing it already. :/ ZION has lots of metaphoric meanings & I am glad I did my part in contributing to CREAcomm stuffs... Anyway, ZION ... Zelda, Ithor, Osiris & Nazgul. The four factions. I am really glad I was given the opportunity to be an Elder & I really love my faction! :) So much so I was always commented as bias. -clears throat- But in any case, I think all the Elders will have this sense of biasness, too! Bleh.
ZION got us all really, really hectic for the whole of the holidays, especially for the Ad-Hoc! I must say, the ad-hoc did a really really good job! Mich Kuek, Sum, Idzham, Coral, Shiwen, Nick Tan, Nick Ngern & Jon Foo! Well done yeah! And of course to all the other councillors... it was really really nice seeing everyone being so caring & so attentive towards each other. Everything was so surreal... seeing the year Ones's happy faces & enthusiastic cheers... the Council room becoming a place to rest...the Student Lounge morphing from the well-known slacking grounds to a Logistics' working ground to Games' storage to cans & bottles storage to magazines storage to a First-Aid ground. For the first time, NY was really funky... I felt... & it made me feel that NY was save-able, after all!
For ZION, my role was a full-time Logist, full-time Elder-cum-Skitter, part-time CREAcomm & part-time PROG. Helped a little here & there, & it feels good to be really involved & efforts paid off! If you were to ask me what the best part of Orientation would be... I would really have nothing to say...simply cause I'll just want to blabber on so much on & on about the whole thing that my thoughts will cross & jumble up & get all tied & messed up... okay, I am crapping.
I love simply... being the ,Nazgul Elder!!! & the Logist! My Logist comm was a very sturdy committee, all thanks to our wonderful Logist Head, Coral! & being an Elder would meant that I am an Official Skitter! :) I loved my fellow skitters & the whole cast! Initially we started off quite bad, & things didn't seem that positive, but eventually, everything got even-ed out & we definitely bonded, well! I really really love the Skitting times, brought back so much of the memories & so... of the past. I miss drama. Sheesh. Anyway, it was really hilarious..cause the whole cast is darn lame?! And several rehearsals had us rolling on the floor cause of our dearest Maths Master & his silly antics...MichWong & Serene & Huazy with all our IJ/girls'school ideas..Amanda with her love scene with her Mr cute Robson...Imran the Blue superhero, mr vainpot YongCheng, & of course.. Smith & Momo :):):)everything's just so good lahh!
I will really miss every single bit of the skit... & another thing I really enjoyed was Faction Time... speaking to the whole crowd of them...something that I thought I'd never be able to really carry out, confidently. I nearly lost the confidence on day one..but my esteem grew as the ice between the year Ones melted ;)
Was worried that I would be a sucky Elder...maybe the Year Ones will detest this Elder of theirs...didn't want to cheer, didn't want to support...or sulking that their Elder isn't any pretty lady or handsome guy...or detest the fact that they were in NYJC for the first three months... but miracles of miracles... the Nazgul Year Ones, they were fantastic!!! :) :) :) I kinda regret not getting to know their names along with the pretty, pretty faces..but I believe there will be chances. There wil be!
And also, not forgetting... my Nazgul OGLs ! ...watched them grow, watched them learn, they turned from already wonderful people to even more beautiful ones...in the whole orientation process, Council watched ourselves grow... all the debriefs not gone to waste! & definitely, much more cause they were really wonderful people. And my Nazgul Jesters, Fawwaz, Benjamin & Shaneet, hahahas... all the wondrous jokes & dances & beats they brought to Nazgul, and Council... we learnt a hell lot...applied the silly skils from the training camps & I think leadership is a thing that can be best trained from execution. And only through execution & the display of confidence...can it be better refined. It felt really good to be able to have the whole crowd rah after you, & getting to know so many of them, the juniors...seeing their happy faces... & yes... spurring us on to spice up our lives in school admist the imminent-&-obviously-tedious-year.
I'll really really, miss Faction Time... & I do hope the Year Ones keep their OG bonds strong & keep up the spirit. NY has got to have THAT kind of attitude, THAT kind of spur!
Also, Nazgul year ones were really the peaceful lot, other than Day 2, they were really full of sportsmanship & played fair! That, I am really proud of! :) And yupps, going to be working with them again, cause this time round, they are going to be Phoenix! :) I am sure going to have a hard time changing my way of addressing them...!
Gees... suffering from a pretty bad case of hangover, still.
Day One ... the talks day...soldiers, Smity & Momo's debut appearance. First faction time, taught them cheers & all sorts... that day I was already mentally drained straight after Faction Time but thank god I managed to get to my energy booster - - Ice Blended Mocha! :):)& FT was entirely enjoyable cause of the Nazgul councillors & OGLs I had in there! :)
Day Two... Mild Station Games & Traditional Dance day for Osiris & Nazgul, the Quest for Zelda & Ithor. ...Trinity & Neo's appearance, & the last performance by the two wonderful soldiers, Sumitro & Jon Foo. Faction Briefing that day too... Went around supplying water instead of Logisitics materials since everything was in order. :) Nazgul was lacking in spirit & all, but probably because the bond wasn't forged, as yet. It was fun that day, but certainly not as great as the spirit & the energy level had been for the next few days. Logistics, was good as ever! :) First time briefing the Year Ones as Hse Capts..about serious matters...serious competition meaning More serious work after Orientation... admist the piling homework to complete :/ Anyway, swear I am going to make Phoenix good this year.. to make up for the mistakes I made last year! :/ Debrief was long because of Protocol meeting... yupps...
Day Three... first time the full cast of ZION appeared, debut appearance of Link, Zee, Switch, Apoc, Morpheus, Niobe... :) the Day for 27th Mass Dance & Wild Station Games. It was the last Faction Time we had, so had to make adequate use of it...the spirit was getting very high & it was getting way too competitive within factions. The situation seemed really dangerous, even as when I was in the Council room jotting down stuffs to brief the Faction...reports of fights & disorders kept coming in... & it was pretty scary... anyway, ran around to get the people who had medical history & it was comforting to know that they were people who would know how to take proper care of themselves ;) & we didn't have that many! :) the Year Ones were surprisingly better at learning the 27th SC dance than the Trad Dance! :) & CCA Bazaar that day too! CCAco! event :) ... things went smoothly even though some stuffs happened... longest ever debrief but was rather emotional... & talked our hearts out... CCAco people & Council.... anyway, CCA Bazaar was quite a sucess, I would say? Had the carnival feeling! :D & yes, got to speak to my cute guy!Day Four...a repeat Program day of Day Two, with Nazgul & Osiris out for the Quest. & I was a Station I/C!!! :) Only that my voice...was gone...as from day Three... & so I had a Hailer with me! :) My station was at the Esplanade, wasn't exactly as bored like what Fauwaz had told me when he shared his experience. I was rather enticed by the Esplanade, been there quite a couple of times but never did really notice the architecture & all... was browsing through the pamphlets & plotting stuffs out for the first 2 hours when there were no OGs who came to report. The first OG to come was the interesting BoomTa, hahahs, the OG with the hilarious cheer...had a total of 9 OGs that came to my station, heard cheers that were really LOUD... was afraid of the glass shattering at certain points in time, spoke to a few tourists... & got to Merlion Park to find Caiwen! :) There, we encountered almost the whole artise cast of MediaCorp, doing some filming by an apparent Hong Kong director. & Caiwen was so tempted to disrupt their filming! ;) Okay, not just her, me too lahhs! Took quite a couple of photos on our way back...seemed as though we were silly Councillors on a sightseeing tour. :) Our chartered bus came late & tonnes of OGLs called to say they were going to be late. All having outside lunch lahh, -jealous- Hahas.
Anyway, we had our Nazgul Hunk & Babe thereafter in the MPR...my goodness, this time round, it was even more happening than the Hunk & Babe last year! We had a tough time choosing the babes, cause there were just so many of them...great figures & all... & very few hunks..anyway..the verdict was out, the Hunk ... "Soon Kuay", yes just the nickname..thats what I remembered him by :P & the Babe... so pretty!!! Errol! Oh, did I mention, Errol does drama too! :D Anyway, somehow our Babe didn't win but our Hunk won the NY tittle! Back at backstage, I had an interesting conversation with the Babe & learnt some really nice pick up lines. Then again...why would girls be using pick up lines? Hahas... had a bad sunburn that day too... & evaluation was long, long... & even though things were really high during the NY Hunk & Babe slot, things went slightly awry...got pumpings :/ & after debrief & skitting...it was really late! Went for the usual dinner with the slightly more crowd, & went to source around for presents for the whole Nazgul crowd & OGLs. HuiXiang & I went hysterical & Kok Siang followed suit not long after...got home super late that night...when it was supposed to be the contrary.
Day Five. Last Day. It was the highest of the highest, & we were really fearing for casualties... had last revision of the mass dances & mass station games... Osiris was very aggressive... and resulted in a large number of Zelda casualties....Nazgul was the gentle & sportier faction for the other hand & Ithor was the rougher one. A Zeldarian guy got smacked in his balls... & a girl got banged against with a guy.. & the Nazgul Babe got smacked in his groins... & one of the girls got hit too... Anyway, the day ended off well... the dinner was nice, but certainly not worth the five bucks... queue was long, dinner was nice, but certainly could have been better..there wasn't enough catered for..sheesh. Anyway, Disco Night was fun! At least for me? The Nazgul crowd was the better crowd... & the Zelda crowd, according to Pris was the most boring... danced & got pretty high & adrenaline rushed & all... Blahh... oh... it was really a spoiler...the message that was sent down for the disco Night to end at 8.30pm... :/
This time round, we had to keep chasing people out of the school...it felt so reluctant...cause it really symbolised the end of all this wonderfulness, ZION... we had to chase the people away, contradictory to what we all felt for... for ZION not to end. Skit was the best out of the best, but Hui Xiang wasn't feeling really good back then, BUT... things went well! :) Debrief was short... & I felt pretty emotional... hugged Ms Chiew & Ms Choong on the way back & got caught tearing by the latter... so many months of preparations & hardwork... all the sacrifices that each & everyone of us made.. all the differences we had to swallow...just for this single one project & now... time has passed so fast... everything's gone...ZION has ended... we have deleted Smith... *poof* ...
I thoroughly enjoyed all the dinners we had...all the lifts we took from Hui Xiang... & all the early mornings at the gates... every single bit of it... and very soon, I'll have to return to the Real World... ZION... is like the Matrix to me...
and now I have to so log out of it.
ZION... will always be a wondrous memory for me, probably the best one ever of my days in NY!
