Leadership Training Camp 2004 :) :) :)
It was good, really really good, had great fun & it was brillant, it was superb... & its now over. Had a really badcase of hangover yesterday when we reached school & didn't bear to leave & stuffs & couldn't bear to accept the fact that the camp was over. But we did really have our fair share of fun & craziness & life... must go on, just like how WeiQuan still had to rush home to catch his flight & how XinHui & Lucas will be leaving for India & Europe the next day. And... Council will resume, soon. *groans* Hahas. Life...the pretty sadist way, as it is.
Anyway, better stop digressing. Erms, I really really really enjoyed LTC! It wasn't that bad as I thought it would turn out to be & in fact, I seriously love it! I think I am one hella of a lucky girl! Huahui Camp was great & LTC was superb! 25-26th nov, 27th-1st dec. Camps rock! :D
LTC was at Jalan Baterah, this far-away from urban civilization place where the nearest residence (other than the other budding campsites) was the Kelongs & Malaysian buildings that could be seen from a certain distance off the coast. We went there for a 5 day 4 nights camp & man did we think we were so gonna die! But it turned out to be great!! WHEE~ And yahhh, felt a little out of place when we got out of the campsite... probably due to the abstinence of getting touch with the real world for too long, huh. And yes, the camp wouldn't have been so great if I didnt have the wonderful group, GOLLUM! :) & the people in it :: WeiQi, WeiQuan, XinHui, PeiWen, HuiXiang, Robson, Lucas, David, Leo, KaiSiang :: & of course, the facilitators, Felicia, BeiSi & BenWei :) I'd really do hope we'll still stay in touch with one another! Hahas.
Had a couple of activities like, The Quest, [some reaally, REALLY sensitive word that brings in hordes of cheers amongst the leaders], Outdoor Cooking, Kayak School, Moonlight Walk & Sea Expedition [We could have kissed the Causeway!!!], Belay School & Land Expedition [Whee~ High elements!!], Campfire/Finale Night & the Final Challenge :) And I really, really, loved the expeditions & all the various stations! My group was pretty cool, didn't start off well & I thought I was so-not-going-to-enjoy-camp.. but it turned out great! We may not have won, but we have the best sportsmanship & best mentality! I really enjoyed my days with them :) And must also seriously thank HuiXiang alot cause I was literally a "burden" for him during the camp activities...my Kayak/Vertical Challenge partner & the Moonlight Walk saviour...He & Robson had to piggy back me for quite some distance...& yah lahh, I know I am heavy...felt really bad...Hope his shoulders recover mans.
Anyhows, LTC models after Lord of the Rings & my group controversially got the Gollum character, when contrastingly my group consisted of the pretty girls & handsome hunks. -clears throat- :) The camp was slack, but I guess it was good. Been to many camps before, but this was seriously my first adventure camp & I really enjoyed every moment of it, right from the Outdoor Cooking all the way to Final Challenge's Rafting or rather, the bus trip back school. Learnt tonnes of stuffs & knew more people! The people in my group, of course! & the girls in my bunk! Bunk 6 rocks!! Hahas. Madness. LTC's really good to get the leaders bonded & all, really forges friendships well, like... how I only knew the 2 other Councillors in the group & never really knew some of the other teammates! :)
Finale Night was really superb, I was really impressed by some of the performances, of which I had been really skeptical of what NY was capable of. I loved Aragon's performance, those with "drums" & such; its worthy of staging Sistic acts man... & Gandalf's silly BSB Medley & TreeBeard bimbotic/lame skit. But best of all, who could forget the Middle Earh Idols? It was superb, that Idol hell of a show !!! By the Gollum Knights :)! The judges, Ducky LeeLee, Dark Glasses, Lian Hua & Kennot Lim & of course the Emcees & sound effectors :) & our two singers! David Decruaz & Mr. Cunning aka WeiQuan, our Sylvester lookalike! LOLx :) Was really overwhelmed by the bond, the spirit that laid within the whole camp, & not forgetting our dearest, most enthusiastic SubCamp Two!!!. Gollum, TreeBeard, Faramir, Arwen & Sam! Hahas. We are simply the best mans, SubCamp2 ! Hahas. Arwen was really cute. [Think... TheQuest] I really do hope the NY spirit could be raised to how it was just like that night :), the bond to be forged within the school, just like how it had strengthened amongst the leaders. If that can really happen, NY will be hella great schoool!!! I am waiting for that to happen, for that, it will need to be a miracle, so may the miracle occur, they do happen, anyway :) so NY... show me your capability!
I loved the Kayaking/ Sea Expedition the most, & I think I was pretty lucky cause my partner didn't slack like some guys did, super un-gentlemanly & jerkish! Poor WeiQi & Karene. HuiXiang was a really good entertainer lahhs, a little spoilt radio at times, but he was really great! I had quite a lot of breaks, interesting chats & silly interactions with the rest of the Kayaks, like giving each other a High Paddle [instead of High 5], rowed backwards to get glass bottles that I thought I saw a message inside, & even got the chance to pee in the water. And of course, singing along to all the funny, funny, weird cheers from him & Hosafah. NPCC people. Tsktsk. LOLx. It was really fun, I must admit & tiredness only came in the night, wasn't thoroughly shagged then & I really had great fun! Learnt the proper way of several strokes, too! Ahh, next time if you are going kayaking, get hold of a 1/2-star Kayak instructor, too! :P
Land Ex was nice, didn't think I could finish the obstacles, & was really impressed with Hui Xiang's perseverance... the Vertical Challenge. I was really shocked lahhs, sitting up there, too & feeling like a burden & his right arm cramped like crazy, but still he persevered & we managed to get up to the second last beam. Had alot of bruises for that, like many others had, & according to WeiQuan, their balls were nearly squased & nearly could have been scrambled eggs..ermms. Hahas. Dont think too much into that yeahh. Belaying for the rock climbing was really tough. Had a go at that twice & it was really scary, like they could fall anytime & my right hand was starting to cramp badly, but still, our people didnt' get injured & we survived :D
There were many little victories in our group, like overcoming our inner fears. Most of them had the fear of speaking to the masses/groups & some of them did overcome it, in fact, on a rather platform some feet off the ground! & of course, WeiQuan! For overcoming his fear of heights, & being through almost all the High Elements :) What more can I say? My group rocks :)
Got to know WeiQi too, this sweet & super fit girl whom I've heard so much about, whether positive or negative word of mouthfuls, but I must say, she's the girl, mans! Hahas. Enjoyed her great company & the rest of the 2 girls! We were really united, looking out for each other & always toilet-tripping with the 4 of us, all together :)
My group was really, really super lame... super good & I really love them! When we were doing rafting, I was really pretty impressed by all of them. Seeing how we had grown during the 5 days & all, hoew the bond had come about, & I am really thankful for God to let me know this bunch of people in my group & letting me have such a peaceful & wonderful group..I'll really miss them, WeiQuan, for always making mme crack up...his jokes are super, super damn funny & I seriously think he's a super, super gentleman lahhhs :) , Lucas & Leo for their laming EmCees,WeiQi that sweet little thing, Robson's expression for his "little boy" antics, XinHui for her really, "small, but mighty" outlook, Peiwen; for our "girl power" settler! David for his brainy looks & sarcastingly-funny comments, KaiSiang for the cute DarkGlasses!! & of course HuiXiang, the super on guy who brought SubCampTwo spirits really high up along with my group's! He & his NP reminiscence...& yah, his body aches is something that I contributed alot too.. ehh ... & not forgetting my "Lian Hua side of me that I left at Jalan Baterah. Hahhahas. Ahhh, hope we still hang out as one mans!
All good things must come to an end, thats' for a fact, & I believe I had better end off my entry just in case I go on reminiscing again. I really learnt alot, something like really, really setting down goals & coming with the strong perseverance & that will power certainly overrides all. & certainly have confidence in yourself! I am so going to believe that, next year, Council must bring NY to greater heights & that I'l lbe in the CCS performance & be a student in the Honour ROll! Hahas. Alright, off to eat my ice-cream :) . Love love! -MuaCkZz-
